McCall, Idaho's music scene is alive and well -- and one of the great benefits is that yearround residents, vacation home owners, and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy great live music yearround at a variety of unique venues.
Tamarack Resort and Brundage Mountain Resort offer live music and summer concert venues during the summer; and in downtown McCall, the Common Ground Cafe, Crusty's Pizza, and The Forester's Club have live music weekly (check their websites for current show schedules). The Summer Music Festival (take a look at the new website -- and make plans for
this event July 17-18, 2009) in historic Roseberry, sponsored by the McCall Folklore Society, is an event not to be missed. There are numerous other events downtown McCall, in the parks, by the lake, and at Jug Mountain Ranch yearround. At the annual Winter Carnival, there are music events all week long, including the opening night with outdoor live music, a bonfire and a grand fireworks display over Payette Lake.
McCall has seen such musicians as Lyle Lovett, Widespread Panic, Elephant Revival, Tony Furtado, and Kenny Loggins; and Idaho musicians like the Shook Twins, Equaleyes, Ben Burdick,The Yurt Brothers, Buckskin Bible Review and Frame of Mind play on a regular basis. In addition, McCall is home to one of the country's most highly regarded mandolin makers, Lawrence Smart.
