Downtown McCall is a quaint lakeside village with shops, the Hotel McCall, restaurants, indoor ice skating arena, coffee shops, real estate offices, markets, vacation rentals, schools, hospital, Payette National Forest, city offices, airport with charter services, mortgage and title companies, and city parks on the lake.
Golf courses include Jug Mountain Ranch, Whitetail Club, Tamarack Resort's 18 hole Robert Trent Jones II course, and McCall's Municipal Robert Muir Graves 27 hole course.
There are many hiking trails, and fly fishing opportunities. Summer activity on the lake includes sailing, waterskiing, and personalwatercraft with rentals and boat slips available for weekly rent at the Mile High Marina. The lake temperature is comfortable in summer, and Payette Lake is a clear, clean and gorgeous, natural lake.
