Of the many choices of places to stay and places to enjoy a meal in the McCall area, there are some which we believe really stand out. And rather than create a complete list of places, what you'll find here is our very own "Best of McCall" list.
Best Lodging in McCall
The Shore Lodge and Hotel McCall tie for first place. Shore Lodge is an elegant historic place on the lake, and Hotel McCall is both historic and literally is the heart of downtown McCall. And if you have a large family or group of friends, the way to go is rent a home on the lake, golf course or in town with Accommodation Services, and save money by putting everyone in one home, prepare meals on your own, and have your own laundry room!
Best Restaurant in the Area
The Jug Mountain Ranch Clubhouse and Rupert's at the Hotel McCall will easily win this award now with Gary Kucy as head chef. He has cooked for 4 presidents and was formerly at Jackson Hole's Snake River Grill and Santa Fe's Coyote Cafe. Both restaurants have atmosphere, a great staff, and spectacular views. Chef Gary Kucy is on par with any of the great chefs in the US. Shore Lodge's Narrows Restaurant has a very elegant setting, and is a close second place.
Best Pizza
Crusty's Pizza is an inviting, family friendly little place with great pizza, a welcoming and friendly staff, and every Wednesday and Sunday there's great, free live music. 2 blocks off 3rd Street on Lenora is where you'll find this local favorite.
Best "Old McCall" Restaurant
The tie goes to The Mill and Lardo's, both vintage old establishments with a lot of character and history dating back to the sawmill days of McCall. The Mill is on 3rd Street on the way to downtown and Lardos is across the street from the Shore Lodge on Lake Street.
Best Wine Bar
The Bistro 45 wins many awards, not only for the wine selection, but for the vibrant atmosphere. Even if you've never been to McCall before, you'll feel like a local after visiting the Bistro 45, and you'll likely have made new friends as well. Find this off the beaten track gem in the courtyard of the Hotel McCall.
Best Bar
The Shore Lodge is a McCall landmark. Newly remodeled, with both the elegance and charm of McCall, enjoy a drink after skiing, or after dinner with some of the most spectacular views of Payette Lake.
